To strengthen measures in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the community, on March 17 the Vietnamese Government has decided as follows.
- Entry visas shall be suspended for foreign visitors for 30 days, starting from 00:00 18 March 2020.
- From 00:00 18 March 2020, entrants who are exempt from entry visas, holders of visa-exempt certificates (people of Vietnamese origin and their family members) or other special cases (experts, corporate managers, skilled labor) must present Covid-19 negative certificate issued by competent authorities of their country of residence upon their arrival in Viet Nam. The certificate must be approved in advance by the Vietnamese competent authorities prior to their arrival.
These measures shall not be applicable to entrants for diplomatic or official purposes.
- Entrants into Viet Nam shall be subject to medical screening and other preventive measures or quarantine in accordance with the regulations.
- Quarantine at designated facilities shall be expanded to include all entrants from the US, European and ASEAN countries. For all others, home quarantine and further medical monitoring at place of work and residence, and monitoring by groups shall be applied.
Viet Nam has informed all diplomatic missions, consular offices and representative offices of international organizations in Viet Nam of the decision. Viet Nam will continue monitoring the Covid-19 developments, and maintain close collaboration with other countries, international organizations and partners in order to swiftly adjust our measures accordingly, thus protecting the health and safety of Vietnamese citizens and all foreigners in Viet Nam in line with our ultimate goal in this combat against the Covid-19.
