On 29 October 2025, in Singapore, the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, in collaboration with the Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association (VALOMA), co-organized the Vietnam–Singapore Logistics Business Networking and Matching Event.

The event gathered nearly 150 enterprises, including VALOMA members, international logistics companies from Singapore, and members of the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA), who came together for business networking and partnership discussions.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Cao Xuan Thang, Commercial Counsellor of Vietnam in Singapore, highlighted the strong partnership between the two countries in trade, investment, and supply chain cooperation. In 2024, bilateral trade reached SGD 31.67 billion, up 9.49% compared to 2023, while Singapore’s FDI in Vietnam amounted to USD 10.2 billion, accounting for 26.7% of Vietnam’s total FDI inflows.

Mr. Thang introduced key highlights of Vietnam’s National Strategy on Logistics Services Development to 2030, which aims to transform the country into a regional logistics hub through infrastructure upgrades, digital transformation, green logistics, and workforce development. He emphasized that cooperation with Singapore — a global leader in smart logistics systems, port management, sustainable development, and human resource training — is a crucial driver in achieving these goals.

The event provided a valuable platform for enterprises from both countries to network, share insights, and establish partnerships that foster efficiency, innovation, and sustainable growth. The visit of VALOMA’s business delegation to Singapore further concretized and deepened the economic cooperation under the Vietnam–Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Mr. Thang expressed confidence that, with the joint efforts of logistics enterprises from both countries, future collaboration will be strengthened, enhancing connectivity, competitiveness, and shared prosperity for both nations and the ASEAN region as a whole.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa, Vice President of VALOMA and Head of the delegation, expressed her sincere appreciation to the Vietnamese Embassy, the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, and Singaporean partners for their support in organizing the event. She emphasized that logistics is a strategic driver of Vietnam’s economic growth and referred to the Government’s Decision No. 2229/QD-TTg, approving the National Strategy for Logistics Services Development (2025–2035, vision to 2050).

VALOMA plays a key role in developing a high-quality logistics workforce and promoting innovation. Dr. Hoa also highlighted VALOMA’s partnerships with universities, enterprises, and international organizations to strengthen training and capacity building. The event was described as a meaningful platform for business collaboration, knowledge exchange, and sustainable logistics development between Vietnam and Singapore, aimed at fostering long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Peter Lim, Vice President of the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA), introduced SLA as an organization established in 1973, representing over 700 members across the logistics ecosystem. The association has driven Singapore’s logistics sector to become dynamic, technology-driven, and sustainable through its Vision 2027 Program, which focuses on four key pillars: a digital logistics ecosystem, regional connectivity, a future-ready workforce, and green supply chain solutions.

Singapore’s logistics industry is globally recognized for excellence, ranking first in Asia in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index for competence and timeliness. With extensive connectivity — 7,400 flights to 400 cities and 200 shipping lines serving over 600 ports — Singapore hosts 20 of the world’s top multinational logistics companies. Upcoming major infrastructure projects, such as Tuas Mega Port (by 2040) and Changi Terminal 5 (by 2035), are set to enhance automation and sustainability. SLA’s training arm, the Logistics Academy, continues to nurture industry talent by offering FIATA-certified qualifications and continuous learning programs, ensuring Singapore’s logistics workforce remains competitive and future-ready.

Enterprises participating in the networking and matching event recognized the strategic importance of Vietnam–Singapore logistics cooperation within the global supply chain. International collaboration in trade, investment, services, and workforce development was identified as a top priority area for both sides.

At the conclusion of the event, many Vietnamese enterprises expressed satisfaction with the fruitful connections established with potential partners, opening up new opportunities for trade and investment cooperation in the logistics sector between Vietnam and Singapore. A group of Singaporean logistics companies also proposed that the Vietnam Trade Office facilitate a business mission to Vietnam for networking and exploring investment opportunities in the near future./.
