- Background: The Southeast Asia – South Asia – South Pacific region is a potential market with 860 million Muslims and Halal-product consumers in the region, accounting for 66% of the total Muslim population in the world. Viet Nam has many strengths and favorable conditions to effectively participate in the global Halal economy, including in the pillars of the food, tourism, textiles, pharmaceuticals, media. Viet Nam has played an important role in many regional and inter-regional economic linkages with 17 FTAs, including new generation FTAs such as CPTPP, EVFTA and RCEP. Viet Nam also has strengths in producing dry goods such as rice, pepper, cashew nuts, coffee beans, etc.
- Overall Aim: The Conference is a great opportunity to look into the market, the business culture, demands and standards of Islamic countries in Southeast Asia – South Asia and South Pacific, as well as matters related to Halal Certification in order to soon take advantage of this potential market. Moreover, the event provides a platform to connect Viet Nam’s provinces and businesses with the regional partners and enterprises.
- Agenda: The Conference will be held in hybrid platform, both directly and virtually from all over the region, with the participation of Leaders, high-ranking officials from related Ministries and agencies from Viet Nam; scholars from prestigious think-tanks in Viet Nam and overseas.
The Conference will cover: (i) Overview on Halal Market in Southeast Asia – South Asia – South Pacific: Opportunities and Challenges; (ii) Promoting Halal Industry in Viet Nam and Connecting Foreign Businesses to Local Cities and Provinces.
